The Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) has just published its new call for application for the MILENA  JESENSKA  FELLOWSHIPS FOR JOURNALISTS 2011/2012.

The program offers European journalists time off from their professional duties in order to pursue in-depth research on a topic of their choice. This is the 1st time that the IWM will strongly encourage candidates from Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan to apply for this programme.

Candidates are asked to relate their proposals to one of the main research fields of the IWM (for details please see www.iwm.at/research.htm). Additionally, this year proposals which focus on HUMAN RIGHTS are strongly encouraged.

The call is directed towards cultural journalists, however, applicants´ work may also deal with societal issues of European relevance. Applications by entry-level journalists or students will be rejected.

The fellows will spend 3 months at the IWM in Vienna, Austria. They will receive a stipend of EUR 7.630 and are provided with an office, access to e-mail and internet, in-house research facilities, and other relevant resources in Vienna. Travel grants of up to EUR 1.820 can be paid for research trips to neighbouring countries.

– a concise project proposal in English (not more than 3 double- spaced pages)
– a curriculum vitae including a list of publications
