Faculty members come from different disciplinary backgrounds and their research falls into a wide range of areas from sociology, cultural studies to aesthetics, literary studies, art history, philosophy and law.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/media.elte.hu\/en\/about-the-department\/faculty\/dr-peter-gyorgy-dsc\/\">P\u00e9ter Gy\u00f6rgy<\/a>, one of the founding members of the Department and current head of the Institute for Art Theory and Media Studies for specialises on contemporary art and museum studies.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/media.elte.hu\/en\/about-the-department\/faculty\/dr-nikoletta-hazas\/\">Nikoletta H\u00e1zas<\/a>\u00a0focuses on contemporary art and the visual aspects of mass communication.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/media.elte.hu\/en\/about-the-department\/faculty\/dr-anna-gacs\/\">Anna G\u00e1cs<\/a>researches contemporary literature, with an emphasis on adaptation.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/media.elte.hu\/en\/about-the-department\/faculty\/dr-katalin-orban\/%22\">Katalin Orb\u00e1n<\/a>\u2019s research focuses on the narrative representation of memory, while\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/media.elte.hu\/en\/about-the-department\/faculty\/dr-andras-mullner\/\">Andr\u00e1s M\u00fcllner<\/a>\u2019s field is neoavantgarde art as well as media and communication theory.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/media.elte.hu\/en\/about-the-department\/faculty\/dr-ferenc-hammer\/\">Ferenc Hammer<\/a>\u00a0is a sociologist and uses cultural studies and the material culture approach to understand a wide range of contemporary practices from blue jeans to board games.<a href=\"http:\/\/media.elte.hu\/en\/about-the-department\/faculty\/dr-lena-pellandini-simanyi\/\">\u00a0L\u00e9na Pellandini-Sim\u00e1nyi<\/a>\u00a0is also a sociologist, whose work looks at consumption and everyday ethics using the material culture approach and actor-network-theory.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/media.elte.hu\/en\/about-the-department\/faculty\/zsolt-k-horvath\/\">Zsolt K. Horv\u00e1th<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/media.elte.hu\/en\/about-the-department\/faculty\/noemi-farkas\/\">Farkas No\u00e9mi<\/a>\u00a0are historians. Zsolt specialises on socialism in Hungary and Europe, while No\u00e9mi\u2019s main field is the socio-cultural history of Transylvania in the 18th and 19th century.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/media.elte.hu\/en\/about-the-department\/faculty\/dr-henrik-hargitai\/\">Henrik Hargitai<\/a>\u00a0specialises on the history of electronic and print media and radio broadcasting.<a href=\"http:\/\/media.elte.hu\/en\/about-the-department\/faculty\/dr-mihaly-szilagyi-gal\/\">Mih\u00e1ly Szil\u00e1gyi-G\u00e1l<\/a>\u2019s field is political philosophy, while\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/media.elte.hu\/en\/about-the-department\/faculty\/dr-andras-laszlo-pap\/\">Andr\u00e1s L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Pap<\/a>\u2019s research looks at constitutional law and human rights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Media and Communication has an active and diverse research culture.
